"Balloon plastic is considered the deadliest for seabirds, being responsible for 42% of plastic-related deaths. A balloon with helium can reach 10 km high, travel for 24 hours and travel up to 3000 km away. That is why the probability of a balloon ending in the sea is very high, regardless of whether the balloon was released in the city. In the United States alone, 31,000 balloons are registered per year that have been found on the coast. Balloons can take months and even years to disintegrate, posing a long-term danger."
