"Regarding the notion of regret as a physical manifestation with an impulse to emerge within a person, I presented it as a protective shell, much like the chrysalis of an insect. Inspired by shunga masters such as Kitagawa Utamaro, the cloth pooled on the floor, as well as the nudity point to a displaced sense of eroticism, contrasting the grotesque nature of the piece. While a chrysalis can symbolize protection and concealment of said "regret", it also signifies an inevitable emergence."
